Wondering
how to bring Shakespeare
into the 21st Century? Prime
Stage Theatre is thrilled
to announce its upcoming
workshop, Shakespeare 2.0.
Shakespeare
2.0 will involve three interrelated
sessions throughout the
day. First, educators will
be shown how to enhance
their current classroom
praxis by using both web
2.0 technologies (i.e. social
networking) as it specifically
relates to Shakespeare's
tale of teenage love and
woe, Romeo and Juliet. Next,
educators will participate
in hands-on vocal and physical
drama-based activities that
will help their students
overcome anxiety about reading
and understanding Shakespeare.
Lastly, educators will learn
strategies to meld drama
and technology and will
brainstorm ways to incorporate
these tools in their own
classrooms.
Teachers
will gain:
-
An introduction to and
strategies for using web
2.0 technology in classrooms
-
Fun
and engaging drama-based
activities that help students
overcome anxiety about
Shakespeare which can
be used for any Shakespeare
text
-
Numerous
classroom activities that
address PA Academic Standards
for Reading, Writing,
Speaking, & Listening
(1.1-1.8), Arts & Humanities
(9.1-9.4), and Science
& Technology (3.7-3.8)
-
Connections
to other educators in
the SW Pennsylvania area
