Step
into the Shoes of Pip
Step
into the shoes of Pip from "Great Expectations",
And how he would do at this time in this nation.
Now you are Pip, and you're ready to go
To make a change, though there is much you don't
know
about this time and about this place,
like who is good, bad, or a complete disgrace.
But still, you would vow to make a change,
and though this may sound very strange,
you would scream from the rooftops everywhere,
the phrase "Watch out worked, because Pip is now
here!"
And though everybody thought you were odd and
weird,
their jokes and jostles you never feared,
for you are Pip, the brave and the old,
no longer doing every thing he is told
There is far too much work to be done,
to follow the orders of everyone.
And so you worked all day and you worked all night,
to think of an idea that is just right,
for there are many tasks in this world to complete.
And though all the thinking nearly made you obsolete,
and you once ended up through a great big fit,
but then something clicked in your head and you
said "That's it!"
"I'll work hard to make money and then
I will give you charity to help pay their bills."
And so you did just that,
Looking for jobs by looking this way and that,
but nobody ended up wanting your work,
so then you decided to lurk
to a place were not many people go,
There, you started to look to and fro,
And though you were in the slums,
surrounded by burns,
It seems like it was almost heaven there,
for in this place,
you can find jobs almost anywhere.
With the jobs here, you could help anybody,
though the work is hard and the streets are muddy,
And though you were doing great things for charity,
there never was very much clarity
on how you would ever be able to get by,
so you would definitely have to try
to get a raise in your pay.
For five dollars a day could hardly be enough
for two,
and charity meant a lot to you.
Whenever you asked for the raise, however,
your boss ended up saying "Never!"
So you had to double the time of your shift,
meaning that you'd also have to be twice as swift
But at least you'll become twice as tough,
though all of the skin on your body will be rough.
You will prevail; you will be the best,
for you have done so much more than there rest.
Victory will be oh so sweet,
and a fulfilling life like yours couldn't be beat.
According to you, your life is grate,
though your day stats early and ends very late.
The charities are doing well,
for they are giving people better places to well,
and because of this, you feel so proud,
sometimes even saying it out loud.
You'd even end up being promoted at work,
getting moved into Europe to be a clerk.
You would make many friends in this wonderful
new place,
always ending up with a smile on your face.
This was a dream that you had pursued,
though one key thing was not viewed.
You see, with the dream that you were pursuing,
you never checked on how well your charities were
doing,
and things were as bad for the charities as the
were at first,
making this time the absolute worst.
You would be fired, all your work undone,
and there you would be right, back at square one.
