Biography
- Wayne Brinda
Wayne
Brinda, Ed.D. As an educator, researcher, and
stage director, Wayne is the founder and Artistic
Director of Prime Stage Theatre since 1996.
He has directed several productions including
Treasure Island, The Outsiders, Twelve Angry
Men, The Snow Girl, I Never Saw Another Butterfly
and The Terezin Promise, and last year’s
premiere of The Giver.

is also an Assistant Professor of Secondary Education
in the Division of Management and Education at
the University of Pittsburgh Bradford where he
teaches and conducts research on adolescent literacy.
Prior to teaching at Pitt, he was an Assistant
Professor in the School of Education at Duquesne
University, an instructor at The Oakland School
and Director of the Senior School Theatre Department
at Sewickley Academy. His dissertation, Bringing
literature to life for sixth grade “reluctant
readers:” A collaborative, participatory
study using Theatre for Young Audiences experiences
to address aliteracy, was nominated for a
national research award by the American Alliance
for Theatre and Education. As a Museum Teaching
Fellow at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in
Washington DC, Wayne produces Holocaust theatre
productions and conducts research on using young
adult literature and the theatre to teach the
Holocaust. He has delivered papers and presentations
in Budapest, Hungary, Krakow, Poland, and for
the National Council of Teachers of English, The
Teachers Teaching Teachers conference, the International
Reading Association 21st World Congress on Reading
in Budapest, and the American Alliance for Theatre
and Education. Wayne has published articles in
Stage of the Art and publications for Seton Hill
University. Prior to teaching at Duquesne, he
was an instructor at The Oakland School and Sewickley
Academy.
