"Classic Tales of Horror"

Prime Stage begins its 9th season in a spooky graveyard with stories that have horrifyingly delighted people of all ages for years! Gatherings in Graveyards features short stories by Edgar Allen Poe, W.W. Jacobs, Shirley Jackson, and L. Frank Baum. These “Classic tales of horror” are sure to delight Halloween spirits.

A Little Princess

Stage Adaptation by R.N. Sandberg from the story by Frances Hodgson Burnett

December 3 - 18, 2005

Young Sara Crewe shares her experiences at Miss Minchin’s Boarding School during what she hopes will be a happy holiday season. But this year, it will take memories, mystery, magic, and music. The Little Princess is a perfect holiday gift for everyone who believes in miracles!

Special Note: A Little Princess features a monkey puppet created by Jim Martin, Emmy-Award Winning director of Sesame Street. This is a special project for Jim, because the puppet will be a real life looking monkey, and not one of the popular characters from Sesame Street. He and his wife are creating the puppet and will be training the puppeteer that is a very special part of the book and the play. Check out a picture of the puppet and Jim and Tribune Review article.

Great Expectations

Novel by Charles Dickens adapted for the stage by Barbara Field, adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens. Dramatists Play Services, Inc.

March 4 - 19, 2006

What the Dickens do a crazy convict, a half-mad bride-to-be, a teasing girl, and an orphan boy have in common? Great Expectations! Filled with Dickens’ colorful characters, you can never be sure how things will work out for young Pip. A delightful family classic.

Directed by Richard Keitel. Richard is a Professor of Theatre at Point Park University Conservatory.



The Giver

Stage adaptation by Diana Basmajian based on the Newbery Award novel by Lois Lowry

April 29 - May 13, 2006

12-year-old Jonas is chosen to receive special training from The Giver who holds memories of joys and pain in a world where family values are paramount, teenage rebellion is unheard of, and good manners are a way of life. The Newbery Award novel by Lois Lowry follows a boy who experiences something incredible and undertakes something impossible.

Directed by Wayne Brinda, Artistic Director of Prime Stage.
